Urban Tails Veterinary Hospital is a privately owned, growing small animal practice located on the Golden Belt campus in a bright and thriving part of downtown Durham, North Carolina. We are an established, full-service hospital with a vibrant and loyal client base and we're looking to welcome another veterinarian who values high-quality medicine, compassionate care, and a supportive, fun working environment.
Our team is passionate about providing thoughtful, personalized care for dogs and cats while supporting the human–animal bond. We take a Fear Free–influenced approach and prioritize creating a calm, positive experience for both our patients and their people.
We are a collaborative group of experienced veterinarians, RVTs, and veterinary assistants who take pride in working closely together to deliver exceptional care. Our support team is skilled, dependable, and keeps the day running smoothly - so our doctors can focus on what they do best.
Our facility is equipped with advanced diagnostics and technology, including cloud-based practice management software, a fully equipped surgical suite, dental radiography, digital radiography, and a complete in-house laboratory.
Who We're Looking For
We are looking for a veterinarian who enjoys practicing high-quality medicine, building lasting relationships with clients, and working with families to develop practical treatment plans for their pets. The ideal candidate leads with confidence and strong clinical judgment while thriving in a team-oriented environment where collaboration and mutual support are part of the everyday culture.

Compensation
Full Time
- Base salary: $110,000–$130,000, depending on experience
- Production-based bonus structure
- No negative accrual
Part Time:
- Part Time: Discussed based on experience and schedule
Relief:
- Hourly: $95–$110, depending on experience
Schedule & Work–Life Balance
- Monday–Friday schedule (No weekends or On-Call Shifts!)
- Full-time: 4 shifts/week
- Part-time: 2–3 shifts/week
- Relief: 1-2 shifts/week

Requirements
- DVM or equivalent degree from an accredited veterinary program.
- Active Veterinary License in North Carolina
- Clinical experience of 2+ years is preferred, though we welcome applicants at all experience levels.
- A commitment to high-quality medicine, strong clinical and diagnostic abilities, and excellent communication with clients and colleagues
- Comfort with routine soft tissue surgery, including spays and neuters, is preferred.
- Experience with dental procedures and radiography is a plus.
